Insomnia? Can't Sleep?

Here's an idea that costs nothing to try...

The relaxing music and nature sounds on this website: Sound Sleeping.com are said to have the ability to aid you in sleep, reduce your stress, and provide you with a relaxing atmosphere for activities such as yoga, tai-chi, and meditation. I have loved using it as background sound instead of listening to music. It sets a peaceful tone in the house and makes me feel like nature is close by. I think it's great for children and adults with acute sensitivity and anxiety, even if his or her sleep patterns are good. It's nice that it's available to anyone at no cost. Here are some claims from the Sound Sleeping website:
  • Rhythmic drumming creates a hypnotic effect to help induce sleep
  • The sound of the vibraphone is calming, and may reduce stress
  • Rain acts as a white noise machine that masks household noises such as refrigerators, heaters, and creaking floors
  • The booming sound of thunder helps to mask loud stereos, barking dogs, and traffic
  • The sound of steady, rhytmic ocean waves provide a sensation of relaxation and calm.
  • Birds and windchimes are comforting sounds that provide a relaxing and stress free atmosphere
  • An atmosphere of rain and thunder may be especially relaxing, because one feels they cannot go out to work
  • Ocean waves may remind one of a relaxing and calm vacation
It might be worth a try! There are dials and knobs where you can experiment with the different sounds to create your personal sleep-aid or relaxation tool.
